Gene Test for Targeted Therapy of Tumor
We offer the service of targeted therapy-related gene test, which contains the genes for the cancers and targeted drugs as following:
- Breast cancer: Herceptin (Trastuzumab); Detection of HER2 amplification
- Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC): Iressa (Gefitinib); Detection of EGFR mutation
- Colorectal cancer (CRC): Erbitux (Cetuximab); Detection of K-ras mutation.
Meaning of the test:
Targeted drugs refers to the class of drugs included in targeting drug delivery system £¨TDDS£©, by which the drugs can be concentrated on their target organs, target tissue, target cells or intracellular structures. The targeted drugs have high curative effect and low toxicity. This drug system belongs to the fourth generation drug dosage form. The most significant characteristics of it are that be high pharmacological specificity, can increase the directionality and prolong drug durations to target, reduce toxic side-effects to normal cells, with low dose but high bio-efficiency, can improve the drug safety, effectiveness, reliability and obedient. However, the targeted drugs are very expensive for treatment, and some targeted drugs have great difference in therapeutic effect to different patients for the different genotypes.
Through gene test, the differences in genotype can be identified, which can offer guidance for the use of targeted drug, in order to avoid time wasting in your best period of effective treatment, reduce the risk of treatment, and avoid unnecessary spending.
